Drip World has announced that their festival will be moving to January 2020, for reasons beyond their control.

With huge acts like Migos, French Montana and Akon on their lineup, Drip World was set for three massive dates, launching in Sydney on August 31st. The festival will now instead take place between the 4th and 12th of January in 2020.

In a post on Facebook, the festival organisers, Yellow Live, said that “key artists” were unable to get visas in time for the event. Despite waiting to within a week of the first date, the festival was unable to guarantee that the visas still needed could be secured in time for the weekend.

“We have waited until the 11th hour, in hopes that we would receive visas for some of the key artists performing on our incredible Drip World line-up and until this morning we have not received those visas”, the post said.

Rather than put on the event without some of the artists they’d promised, the festival made the decision to push back until January, to ensure they can still get the acts they promised into the country.

“Our team locally and internationally are working very closely with the amazing agents, artists and managers to reschedule everyone on the line-up. You may think rescheduling is an easy task. Our line-up of eight (8) massive international artists comes with a complete entourage of ninety-seven (97) people, namely crew, dancers, DJ’s, security, and personnel that all need to be rescheduled”, the Facebook post continued.

Tickets for the winter event will still be valid for the new dates, and if you can’t attend the new dates you may secure a refund starting next week; “On Monday the 2nd of September, [ticket holders] will receive an email to the email address you used to purchase your ticket with information on how to get a refund.”

The final new dates for the festival will be announced in the coming weeks, but in the meantime you can share the hype on new, cooler hashtag #DripSummer2020.
