Game of Thrones fans everywhere, prepare to froth: HBO have confirmed that they’re in “preliminary talks” with George R.R. Martin to create a prequel!
According to Entertainment Weekly, the programming president Casey Bloys explained that they were in the process of expanding the Westeros story.
“I would say it’s still kind of preliminary ongoing talks,” Bloys said. “There are areas we are exploring, but I wouldn’t point to any one and say, ‘This is what we’re going to do.'”
And, even more cheeringly, Bloys refused to confirm that there’ll only be six episodes of the final season, saying: “I’ll take as much as we can get.”
Cast are currently filming the eighth and final season, which will be split into two parts; the first installment is due to air toward the middle of next year.
Bring it on!
