For a while it was rumoured that the one and only Harry Styles would be portraying Prince Eric in the remake of Disney’s The Little Mermaid, which left fans absolutely buzzing!
In fact there were even some reports according to DisInsider that said Styles had actually signed on for the role and would be appearing alongside Halle Bailey, who will play Ariel.
It seemed like the perfect fit with Harry being both fluent in singing and the acting world, but alas it was soon revealed that Harry actually wouldn’t be part of that world.
Other roles that Harry was rumoured to be in talks for was Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic about his life, but this also later turned out to fall through.
So why did Harry turn down the undeniably iconic roles? He joined the Kyle and Jackie O Show this morning when he explained his decision.
“Were those on the table at all or up for consideration or just complete rumours?” Jackie asked about the roles this morning.
“We kind of talked about stuff, there was like you know some stuff that was happening,” Harry explained.
It seems that Harry takes acting very seriously, and explained that if he couldn’t commit all of his time to a particular role than he didn’t feel it was right to do it at all.
“But I think the thing with films is there’s a lot of, you have to put a lot into it obviously if you want to do it properly,” he continued. “I already wanted to tour next year and also you know, sometimes this stuff works out sometimes it doesn’t.
“But I think they’re both going to be great and I’m excited to see them.”
When asked what role Harry would consider putting the rest of his career on hold for, he told us that he didn’t have a particular one in mind. It would just be about what felt right and what the timing was like.
“Are you waiting for one in particular to come up that you think would suit you?” Jackie asked.
“I don’t think so. No I think with that stuff it’s just about, I mean with everything I guess with acting and with music it’s just about you find something that you feel passionate about,” Harry continued.
“If you’re going to do it properly you’re going to put a lot into it and I think it’s about finding something that you want to kind of be dedicated to.”
But whatever it is that Harry is busy doing, he said that he just feels lucky everyday to be able to do something that he loves, whether that be acting or music.
“I feel very lucky that I get to do a job that I love and then with the acting stuff I feel very lucky that I get to do two things that I love,” he continued.
