This could just be the best Christmas gift ever for Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

Her husband John is finally back in their family home after being hospitalised on March 6.

Kerri-Anne shared a happy snap of the reunion on Instagram, celebrating the moment with friends.

John was paralyzed in a freak accident nine months ago, breaking his neck in a fall at Coffs Harbour.

But finally, through extensive medical care and rehabilitation – as well as renovations to make their house wheelchair friendly – John was given the all clear to return home on Tuesday.

“John’s home. This is the day I’ve hoping and waiting waiting for since March 6th Thank you to each and everyone one of you. Forever thankful,” she posted on Instagram.

Hip Hip Hooray it’s John’s birthday today 🎉

In recent weeks the couple have shared their story on Sunday Night’s program, with Kerri-Anne candidly talking through the emotional rollercoaster that has been the past nine months.

“I think right now, the most difficult thing… is not being able to talk to him,” she admitted.

“I want my old life back. And I want my husband back. I have my husband, we’re just different now.

“A whole chunk of me just doesn’t exist anymore. There’s just a whole big chunk that he used to fill.”
