If you’re a social media addict and you don’t have a Twitter account today is not going to be a good day for you…
Facebook and Instagram are both still down across the world in what is being called one of the social media platforms worst outage.
Both applications can be opened but it appears that you can’t receive notifications or messages on either platform and you can’t post new content.
While the applications can be visited through the apps, attempting to visit Facebook through the web on a desktop only brings up an error message.
For us in the KIIS offices, Instagram appears to let you visit and update your feed however you can’t receive notifications or post content.
Facebook have since issued a message on Twitter saying that they are aware of the issue on their family of apps and are working to fix it.
“We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”

They have also confirmed that the issue is not part of a cyber attack.
We’re focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.

According to DownDetector, the outages are not only affecting people in Australia but also in parts of America, the UK, India and the Philippines.
Users experiencing the issues have taken to Twitter to express their frustration.
