Bachelor in Paradise may have only just kicked off on TV but the drama was already taking over in the first ten minutes of the premiere episode.
As the ex-bachelor and bachelorette contestants arrived in paradise we started learning more and more about each one of them. We expected to hear things like who they were keen to hook up with on the show, but we were SHOCKED to find out that one of the contestants, Brett, already had a girlfriend on the outside!
While he wouldn’t exactly confirm or deny that he was already in a relationship, the issue made things pretty heated on last night’s episode with other contestants and even producers feeling that it was unfair for him to be in paradise if he wasn’t available to find love. And of course this resulted in him being one of the first people to be eliminated.
Since leaving paradise Brett took to his Instagram account to defend his actions, claiming that producers actually knew the whole time that he had a girlfriend because she happened to be an ex-bachelor contestant herself and was originally contacted to go on the show too!
Brett accused the producers of using their situation to intentionally cause drama. And so Kyle and Jackie O decided to get Brett’s supposed girlfriend, Stephanie Boulton from Matty J’s season, on the air to clarify whether this was true or not.
“So you’ve been seeing each other, were you supposed to be on Bachelor in Paradise with him?” asked Jackie.
“Yep, so I actually got the phone call first to go on Paradise, but I first said no, because they already knew about me and Brett,” revealed Steph. “And then like ten minutes later Brett texted me like ‘Hey Steph, I just got a call for Bachelor In Paradise’ and I was like ‘Sorry, like I just told them no because of you’.
So according to Steph she told producers that she was already seeing Brett and this is what prompted them to call him and ask him to be on the show! She then claims that she texted the producers back and agreed to be on the show and they were both eventually cast on the show.
“So he got on the island, and I think they just wanted their first drama,” continued Steph. She then claims that producers asked her to enter the island once Brett had been eliminated but she refused.
But for Steph it’s all water under the bridge now because she ended up with the man of her dreams without having to go on tv.
“I think it’s probably a good thing that we didn’t go on,” she said. “And now it hasn’t rocked us at all, like we’re fine.”
The Bachelor In Paradise drama continues after the Easter Break on Monday 2nd April at 7:30pm on Channel 10.
