Married At First Sight’s Martha has revealed her plans to leave the country after being relentlessly bullied online.
The 30-year-old told TV Week that she has received ‘thousands’ of hateful messages as a result of her portrayal on the reality program.
“I’m trying to deal with it but I’m definitely struggling,” Martha said, adding that she plans to spend time overseas until things blow over.
The trolling allegedly began when she started supporting her friend Jessika during her affair with Dan on the show.
“My phone was blowing up. I received about 1,000 messages. I was about to throw it against the wall. People forget it’s entertainment. They take it so seriously,” she told the publication.
“I’ve had death threats, people commenting… I just cant wait for [the drama] to end.”
However, while speaking with Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Martha revealed that she wasn’t actually running away, despite the fact that people have been really nasty online.
She told us that instead she would be heading off on vacation with her partner Michael for a few weeks for a break to somewhere sunny.
The news comes just days after a source close to the show told NW Magazine that Martha was actually one of the show’s villains, and received a quite favourable edit.
“Martha is the biggest pot-stirrer I’ve ever met,” the source said.
“She would gossip non-stop just to get attention, and because she was so bored in her own relationship [with Michael].
“Martha would try to pry into everything and cause problems.”
Married At First Sight continues tonight from 7:30PM on Channel Nine.
