Australian acting icon Cornelia Frances has passed away, age 77.
The actress’s passing comes after a long battle with cancer, spending her final months in palliative care.
She was said to be surrounded by family and friends in her final moments.
Frances is most well known for roles in Home and Away, Sons and Daughters, The Young Doctors, as well as hosting The Weakest Link.
Cornelia announced her cancer diagnosis last year, with it initially impacting her bladder before spreading.
“I swear I have had a hex placed on me for the past 12 months,” she told News.com.au at the time.
“I discovered I had bladder cancer.
“This then spread to my hip bone which fractured, and then I almost died from loss of blood due to an ulcer in my throat.
“Despite all this, I am still here, as the old song goes.”
She is survived by son Lawrence Eastland and granddaughter Tipani.
