Just like the epic makeover that Alicia Silverstone’s character gives to the new girl in school in the 90s classic film ‘Clueless’, it seems that another ultimate transformation is coming with reports that the movie is getting a remake!!
And this is like the most totally bangin’ news we’ve heard all year!!
Our Favourite 90s Film Clueless Is Getting A Remake
According to Deadline, the movie is already in the early stages of production, with Tracy Oliver from Girls Trip producing it and the writer from Glow, Marquita Robinson, writing the script.
At this point it’s unclear whether the story will be remade into a modern day version of the original plot or if we will catch up with the same characters 20-years on from their time in high school, but either way we’re sure it’s going to be EPIC!
In case you need a refresher, the original storyline follows high school student from Beverly Hills, Cher Horowitz (played by Alicia Silverstone) as she transforms the new girl in school, Tai, from drab to fab with the help of her bestie Dionne.
Along the way our protagonist finds herself falling in love with her ex-step brother Josh (played by a young Paul Rudd) and while it’s a bit controversial they do make a pretty darn cute couple in a weird way.
The film is a very loose adaption on Jane Austen’s book, Emma, and while it didn’t do amazingly well in the box office when it was released, it quickly developed a cult-like following.
As of yet, there is barely any information about a release date or the cast signed on to do the remake but boy, oh boy, we’re darn excited!
