We’ve seen numerous biopic films made recently based on the lives of icons in the music world, such as Bohemian Rhapsody about Freddie Mercury and Rocketman based on the life of Elton John.
And now there’s another one in the works based on the life of none other than Kyle’s own childhood icon, and Culture Club singer Boy George.
As of yet not that much information is known about the film apart from the fact that MGM is developing it and that it will be entered around his upbringing, early life and work with the Culture Club band.
Speaking about the upcoming film with Kyle and Jackie O this morning, Boy George told us that he’s just recently read the script and he’s really excited about it.
“Yeah I had the script read to me a couple of weeks ago and yeah it was really interesting,” Boy George told us.
“I got some quite interesting perspectives on some things,” he added with a laugh.
“Oh yeah, was there some stuff that you’d forgotten?” Kyle asked.
Boy George replied saying that the film explores some rather major aspects of his life in ways that even he hadn’t thought of before, which was certainly interesting.
“I would say that there was some stuff, quite big stuff that I’d never really seen through anyone’s perspective but my own,” he continued laughing. “So it was an interesting epiphany for me to go, ‘Oh maybe I didn’t have this quite as clear as I thought I did. Maybe I should rethink that.’
“Quite big things I have to say that will be quite profound but that’s a good thing I think.”
We also know that Boy George’s biopic will be a bit more rock and roll in comparison to Elton John and the Queen films.
“Will it be covering the drugs and the sex and all the filth of rock and roll? Will we see all that?” Kyle asked.
“No just tea,” Boy George joked. “Lots of tea ceremonies all the way through it.”
As for who could play Boy George in the film, a few names have been rumoured but Boy Goeorge himself says that he thinks the chosen actor is going to seriously “surprise” us.
“There’s been a few rumours about who’s going to play you like Harry Styles, even Sophie Turner put her hand up and said, ‘I would love to play Boy George’,” Jackie said. “Do you have any idea as to who is going to take that role?”
“I do not and every time I suggest someone I get into trouble,” he replied. “But I think because it’s quite serious the film, I think it’s going to be someone unknown I think. I think it’s going to be a surprise person.
“It won’t be Meryl Streep I can assure you,” he added. “Or Hugh Grant. They’ve both been ruled out.”
Well no matter who ends up playing Boy George in the film, we certainly can’t wait to see it!
