Kobe we can see your halo…
This past Monday, Beyoncé and a special choir opened the late Basketball great’s public memorial service. Belting out her hits “XO” and “Halo”, Beyoncé sang proud paying tribute to her very close family friend.
The Staples Center was flooded with adoring fans, friends and family to pay their respects to Kobe and his daughter, Gianna Bryant, who tragically lost their lives during a helicopter crash earlier this year.
“I’m here because I love Kobe and this was one of his favourite songs so I want to start that over but I want us to do it all together and I want you to sing it so loud that he hears your love,” Beyoncé told the venue.

Beyoncé was just one of the many special guests alongside Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson to perform at the tribute.
E News! reports that more than 20,000 people attended the ‘celebration of life’, where all ticket sale proceeds are going towards the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, which honours the legacy of both Kobe and Gianna.
In honour of their legacy, the Mamba and Mambacita Foundation provides opportunities to young people through sports. Learn more or donate here.
