A shooting range in Adelaide has come under criticism for allowing children as young as 12 to shoot.

Kids from the ages of 12 and up fire guns at moving virtual targets at the gunnery in Adelaide.

Critics argue that a shooting range, where live ammo is present, is no place for a child, however the owner is adamant that it is completely safe as shooting is not an aggressive sport.

Everyone is monitored the entire time they are shooting and if they do not have a gun licence they wear a harness that is bolted to the floor.

The law states that anyone under the age of 18 can fire a gun at a shooting range, as long as they are in the presence of their guardian.
