Are we looking at a reality TV show love story crossover? It certainly appears that way after two contestants from dating shows on competing networks were spotting getting up close and personal over the weekend.
Love Island’s Edyn ‘Mac’ Mackney and Bachelor In Paradise’s Sam Cochrane were spotted putting on a display of affection at a party on Friday night, sparking rumours that they might be dating.
The pair publicised their meeting on Edyn’s Instagram story, with a selfie-style video showing Sam Cuddling up to her before kissing her cheek as she exclaimed, “It’s official”.
Speaking with the Daily Mail Australia the next day, 22-year-old Edyn denied the rumours, saying that she did meet someone pretty special at the party but it wasn’t Sam.
“There was definitely one man who I had my eye on last night but it wasn’t Sam, we are just friends,” she said.
Sam hasn’t commented on his meeting with Edyn, but this comes just a few months after he announced his split from ex-fiancee Tara Pavlovic.
The couple had met on Network Ten’s Bachelor In Paradise and quickly fell in love, becoming engaged on the final episode. They chose to go their separate ways back in June and ever since their split has made some pretty nasty headlines.

This message goes out to all the beautiful people who shared with me such an amazing journey. The fairytale that I took part in was deep and surreal. My proposal was meant to be forever but life sometimes takes you away from the dream and you wake up. So…deep breath…. this has come to an end. I loved Tara with my whole heart and those two people in Fiji fell completely. It’s hard writing this thinking back to those moments. Your joy in our story and the engagement meant so much and I can assure you it is the saddest thing for me to come to terms with. Watching something you valued fall apart and what you love follow a different path is one of the most difficult things. My heart feels broken and obviously having it play out in public adds so many difficult dimensions. I forgot about the cameras in Fiji and I simply fell in love. The truth is difficult but the path ahead will show the way. Obviously there has been speculation for some time but I needed to know for sure before making anything public. That has been hard. Our time together will always hold a beautiful and difficult place in my heart and I have to believe that everything happens for a reason. Thank you everyone for the beautiful support and being on this journey. In a time that was mostly in hiding your words provided magic. I look forward to the future. I got to see that love is real and powerful…. and it is. I’ll find it again. ❤️✨💫🌹🥀
It’s since been rumoured that Tara has moved on with plumber Nick Shepherdson after the pair have spent the past few weeks galavanting around Europe.
Edyn ‘Mac’ Mackney appeared on the last season of Channel 9’s Love Island Australia and despite coupling up with a number of the guys she struggled to find that lasting connection while in the villa.
Of course, she has said that she’s just friends with Sam, but they did look a lot closer than that in the Instagram story so who knows. Watch this space!
