Okay people it’s time to finally put the selfie stick down. In fact, just put the camera down.
Because while we may laugh at how little people really look like their profile photos, new research has found there’s actually a whole lot of truth to that joke.
Only we don’t realise the joke is on us.
If you’ve ever looked at those photos other people take and think “it just doesn’t look like me” – especially when compared to your own camera role of selfies, you’re right.
According to scientists at the University of New South Wales, it would be more accurate to ask a stranger to select a photo that best represents you. And they’re less likely to select the selfie you’d be inclined to choose.
