5-year-old Mary Massey’s life was heartbreakingly short and full of suffering – the exact opposite of how things should be.

Mary was a patient at Cook Children’s Hospital and suffered from cystic fibrosis and chronic pneumonia. No cure for cystic fibrosis is known.

When specialists delivered the heartbreaking news to Mary’s family that her condition was deteriorating, and she wasn’t expected to live much longer, the five-year-old had just one wish – to marry her 6-year-old friend Damien.

Mary’s Mother, Kayla, told the WFAA that Mary and Damien had been planning their dream wedding since they were just two years old!

Family, friends and staff of the hospital banded together make the little girl’s dream wedding a reality.

Wearing a pink crown, white veil and sparkly silver dress fit for a princess, Mary and her bestie tied the knot with a hug, matching Mickey & Minnie Mouse “wedding rings” and a Disney themed wedding cake.

Sadly, less than six hours later, Mary passed away in her Mother’s arms.

Rest in peace Mary, you’ve shown that love truly knows no age limits
