It’s the dating app that’s taken the world by storm – chances are you or at least one person you know is swiping up a frenzy on Tinder.
But did you know that quite a few people on the popular app are already taken?
A new study, surveying over 600 Tinder users, showed that 30 per cent of them were already married, and 12 per cent were in relationships.
Though some couples use Tinder as a way to find others to join in on their fun, and some may be in open relationships, the statistic shows that not all is what it may seem on the app.
A Tinder spokesperson told the BBC that the app is not strictly for dating and hooking up, saying, “Tinder is a social network and there are many uses for it – not just dating.
“People are using it to make new friends, to network, and they use it when they travel to meet new people in the area.”
According to estimates last year, around 50 million people worldwide are swiping left and right on Tinder.
