Kyle & Jackie O Solved The Diplomatic Crisis in Honduras
This morning on the show, Kyle and Jackie O caught wind of the fact that there were issues brewing between Australia and Honduras ahead of the World Cup qualifiers.
It all started when the match was being discussed on The Project, and Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar referred to the city of Honduras as the former “murder capital of the world”, albeit jokingly.
Aly asked Cahill if the Socceroos were sure they wanted to win in enemy territory given the city’s reputation while Helliar suggested there are similarities between playing against Honduras and playing against “ISIS”.
Socceroos players have been forced to address concerns from Honduras media about the lack of respect Australian media commentators have shown the nation, as a result.
The situation has been spiralling in Honduras to the point that star Honduran striker Antony Lozano declared his team will be aiming to “kill them off” when asked about the Socceroos this week. Kyle and Jackie O decided enough was enough.
They spoke to a radio station in Honduras, EXA FM, and proceeded to apologise on behalf of Australia, with the aim of putting the matter to bed. The host of the show was thrilled to speak to Aussies and accepted the apology gracefully.
It seems we’ve just put out another diplomatic fire.
