Ambulance Paramedic Was Called Out To A Massage Parlour
When you work as an ambulance paramedic you never know what each shift is going to entail. Anything could happen...and we mean ANYTHING!
We learnt this this morning while speaking with one of the paramedics on Channel Ten’s show Ambulance Australia.
Speaking with Jackie and Beau Ryan, who was filling in for Kyle this morning, paramedic Josh Payne was asked what the strangest case was that he’s ever had to deal with.
Josh told us that he’d once had to respond to a call out to a massage parlour…and no we don’t mean one where you go because you’ve got a sore back…
“We responded to a case in a massage parlour type of place,” Josh said.
Josh explained that they had a serious medical incident on their hands that they needed to concentrate on, but that didn’t mean that the other customers were going to uh, stop what they were doing.
“And I think the strangest thing was you know, we’re there to do a case, this gentleman was quite unwell but, everyone else in the room sort of was still going on with whatever they wanted to do,” he explained.
“So, you know, we’re in one room and old mate’s next door still getting his money’s worth…He wants to get his hour’s worth.”
They really don’t stop for anything!
Josh explained that it was definitely one of the more distracting jobs he’s ever been called to.
“Look as much as you try and remain task focused, you cannot help but look around and get a bit of sense for your settings and you know, with ten plasma screens around you playing certain movies, it’s quite distracting,” he added.
“But we have a job to do and we do it well.”
Yep, expect the unexpected when you’re working in the medical industry!
Of course, the other side to this is that sometimes, and actually more often than not, paramedics have to deal with seriously awful circumstances with very little notice.
