Woman In Coma After 10m Fall From Machinery At Port Botany
A 54-year-old woman is currently in an induced coma after suffering serious injuries when she fell 10 metres from an industrial vehicle in Port Botany yesterday.
The woman is believed to have been working on the site at Hutchinson Ports when she fell just after midday.
A specialist medical trauma unit, including a doctor and a critical care paramedic, as well as two paramedic crews were called to the scene to treat the woman for limb and head injuries.
“On their arrival, (paramedics) found a female, approximately 50 years of age, who had fallen eight to 10 metres from some machinery at Port Botany”, said NSW Ambulance Acting Superintendent Steven Vaughan.
“The crews arrived, assessed and treated her, stabilised her and she was transported to St George Hospital in a critical condition.”
The woman is currently undergoing treatment at St George Hospital for closed head injuries, a broken leg and a broken arm.
