Wayne Gardner, Son, In Japanese Jail Over Road Offences

Former 500cc world champion Wayne Gardner has been joined by his teenage son in a Japanese prison over various road offences.

A statement from police in regards to Wayne's arrest stated that:

“The suspect allegedly inflicted violence by grabbing the victims’ collars and such over traffic troubles in Hiyama (the circuit location) around 8am on October 16,” reads the police statement.

Wayne Gardner, 57, was arrested on the spot at 8.40am…the suspect is denying the claim.”

Now Gardner's son Remy, 18, has apparently been put behind bars over an alleged 'drivers licence violation'

The pair where in Japan where Remy was due to compete in the Moto2 class motorcycle race last week.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesman released an email revealing DFAT “is providing consular assistance to two Australian men arrested in Japan”.

The pair could potentially face another 10 days in jail, after it is alleged that Remy failed to produce an International Driving Licence that foreigners are legally required to carry when driving in Japan.
