This Sydney Shopping Centre Is About To Get A New Food Court
Neil Perry is set to be the star of a new food hall at Westfield Bondi Junction.
The David Jones food hall will be the first in Australia and Sydney has been chosen as the lucky place to try it out.
The David Jones inside Bondi Junction will be the launching pad for the department stores new $100 million strategies to regain its place on Australia’s premium food map.
And the department store has head-hunted Perry to be the mastermind behind its new design.
Perry has told NewsCorp that the new blueprint will set the tone for the new food brand and what it will stand for.
“I don’t think Australia has ever seen a food hall with such a commitment to food service as this one,” Perry said.
“You are going to see produce treated like jewellery and we are going to have experts in their field behind the counters.”
The old food hall has been raised and is now getting oyster, sushi and salad bars, a cafe, formal restaurant, butcher, fishmonger, bakery, fresh produce, a grocery store and more.
The new offering will also have a ‘taste testing’ area for the retail products on offer, which will range from sustainably sourced local produce to ready-to-go meals to premium pasta sauces from Italy.
The meat, cheese and dairy for sale in the butcher, fish shop or cheese counter will be available at the cafe or restaurant, he said.
We can’t wait!
