Terrible News For Sydney Drivers Today

Driving in Sydney can already be an absolute nightmare, with the bumper to bumper traffic, high prices of petrol and an exorbitant amount of road toll costs.

And well, it's about to get worst as we've reached a new world record that no one here in Sydney wanted to make...

While some commuters already pay a whopping $8000 each year in road tolls, within the next five years Sydney will have more tolls on the roads than any other city in the world.

Sydney's tolled roads already reach a length of 135km across nine major roadways, however, the introduction of new motorways such as WestConnex, is set to fluctuate toll costs EVEN HIGHER!

We can expect our road toll count to reach a massive number of 15, which is more than the UK has altogether.

Road's Minister Melinda Pavey has defended the costly introductions saying, "Fifty-nine per cent of motorists are in favour of new toll roads to make getting around Sydney easier."

"Without these projects, congestion on major corridors would be considerably worse," she continued.

However, for those of drivers out in Western Sydney, who can already be paying more than $124 each week just to get to and from work, the new tolls are more of a punishment than a positive solution to traffic.

Blacktown Mayor Stephen Bali spoke about the impact the new road tolls would have on his area saying, "Once again, Western Sydney is facing the issue of tolls."

"The part of Sydney that is most poorly served by public transport is being penalised for having to take to the car to get to work."
