Teenager Critical, Four Others Injured After House Explosion
An explosion at a home near Newcastle yesterday afternoon has left a 16-year-old in a critical condition and four others injured.
Emergency services attended a home at Sandy Point Road in Corlette, Port Stephens at around 5pm and paramedics treated five people at the scene for injuries.
Police believe that the explosion was caused after a flammable liquid was poured onto a fire pit that was on a patio.
The 16-year-old boy is currently recovering at Sydney Royal North Shore Hospital with burns to his face, arms and torso.
A 44-year-old man, 46-year-old man, 49-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were also treated for burns to areas on their face, legs and torso.
The 44-year-old man is recovering in the Royal North Shore Hospital and the other people are currently in John Hunter Hospital in Newcastle in a stable condition.
Police have set up a crime scene at the house and are currently investigating the incident.
