Sydney Mum Gives Birth To 5.7kg Baby With ZERO Pain Relief

Reading the headline alone made us wince, so we can only imagine the pain that a new mum has experience bringing her huge newborn into the world with absolutely no pain relief.

The mother, who had a completely natural birth, delivered one of the biggest baby’s ever recorded at Blacktown Hospital in Sydney’s west on Thursday.

“Chunky” Parker Bell came into the world weighing a whopping 5.75kg (12b 6oz), while the average weight for a newborn is 3.5kg, according to Women’s & Children’s divisional nurse manager Helen Konowec.

“Though, the range of normal can be between 2.5 and 4.5 kilograms,” said Ms Konowec. “The mother had scans during pregnancy for foetal growth.

Thankfully, the baby boy’s mother Nikki had no complications despite the size of the bundle of joy.

Nikki went into labour at 39 weeks and three days, and the birth lasted just two-and-a-half hours.

The news of the heavy newborn baby was posted to the Blacktown Midwifery Group on Facebook.

“We are happy to report the not so little Parker and mum Nikki are doing well,” read the post. “Welcome to the world Parker - you’ll be the talk of Blacktown Maternity for a long time to come.”

Thousands of people have since commented on the post, comparing the size of baby parker to their own children.

“This little cutie weighs more than my twins put together at almost a month old,” commented one mother.

“My daughter is 12 weeks and yet to hit 5.75kg,” wrote another.

The record at Blacktown Hospital however, still sits with Tiara Elekana after she was born at a whopping 6.85kg back in July 2011.
