Police Reveal Motive Behind Brutal Stabbing
Police have revealed the sickening motive behind a frenzied attack on a 35-year-old hairdresser who was stabbed to death on Wednesday night. Nasrin Abek was found dead inside her Sydney apartment just after 6am on Thursday, after her concerned father raised the alarm bell. Police say he became concerned when he received a strange call from her husband.
Police swooped, arresting the victim’s husband, Amir Darbanou and charging him with murder. They will allege the 41-year-old stabbed his wife to death after becoming enraged that she had converted to Christianity.
The couple who previously lived in Iran, had been living in Australia for the past four years on bridging visas. Neighbours reported hearing a loud disagreement on Wednesday night, but police revealed there had been no history of domestic violence between the couple.
A neighbour who wanted to remain anonymous told reporters she heard blooding-chilling screams coming from the apartment just after 4:40pm on Wednesday and then silence.
Police recovered a knife in a nearby garbage tip which they believe was used in the murder. Mr Darbanou will court again on November 24.
