Sydney Bound Flight Grounded After Bomb Scare

A flight bound for Sydney has been grounded after a teenager allegedly made a threatening comment that he had a bomb on board.

Emergency services arrived at Auckland Airport in New Zealand after the incident unfolded on Wednesday night, according to local press.

The Air New Zealand flight was ready to depart at 8PM and was on the runway when passengers were informed there had been an incident and the plane was heading back to the gate.

'The captain came out and said the guy had said that he had a bomb on board,' an Australian woman who was a passenger on the flight claimed.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with breaching the Civil Aviation Act will face court today.

'The man, who was on a stationary plane, is alleged to have made a threatening comment,' New Zealand police said in a statement.

The flight was cancelled, with passengers being given accomodation and food in Auckland. All customers will now fly home today.
