Over 100 million vehicles worldwide have been recalled, and 1.8 million of them are in Australia.
Takata airbags have been found to be exploding and releasing shrapnel through cars when activated as they got older.
Owners of the following brands of car are being advised to ring the seller of their vehicle immediately to find out if their vehicle is on the list.
