Man Charged With Murder Following Death Of NSW Toddler
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder following the suspicious death of a toddler in the NSW Hunter region seven weeks ago.
In June, emergency services were called to a house in Tarro, close to Newcastle, after reports that a 20-month-old girl had gone into cardiac arrest.
The young child was rushed to John Hunter Hospital but could not be saved.
On Thursday morning homicide detectives and officers from a special strike force that had been investigating the suspicious death of the child arrested the 26-year-old man at a home in Tanilba Bay.
The man was handcuffed and taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station. A police spokesman confirmed that he had been charged with murder on Thursday evening.
The 26-year-old is expected to front Newcastle Local Court on Friday.
