Major Emergency Response At Sydney Airport After Mayday Call

A United Airlines flight from Los Angeles has been forced to make an emergency landing at Sydney airport, sparking a full emergency response.

Officers from Botany Bay Police Area Command were alerted after a pilot made a mayday call shortly after 6am this morning, saying that his plane was low on fuel.

The NSWPF traffic control plan was activated at 6:36am, with some major roads surrounding the airport being closed as a precaution. These roads have since reopened.

Flight UA839 thankfully landed safely this morning with 239 passengers on board. Air Services authorities confirmed that there were no dangerous goods on board the flight.
