Ikea Glass Ceiling Lamp Recalled Over Fears It Could Fall

An oyster style glass ceiling lamp sold at IKEA stores Nationally is being recalled over fears that the glass could break and fall from the roof, posing a risk of injury to consumers.

The affected product is called the CALYPSO ceiling lamp and it is a glass shade with four metal arms and three light fittings.

The fear is that the glass in the lamp shade could break and fall from the ceiling, causing a risk of people being cut by the broken glass.

IKEA is urging anyone who purchased the affected product after August 1 2016 to check the manufacturing date stamp on the product. CALYPSO ceiling lamps manufactured between and including the date stamps (YYWW): 1625 to 1744 are being recalled.

To check the manufacturing date customers should carefully pull out the moveable arm and remove the glass shade. The date stamp can be found on the lamp base.

Consumers who have one of the affected lamps should contact IKEA to organise a replacement or refund. No receipt or proof of purchase is required.
