Funeral For 'Cherished' Jessica Falkholt Held Today
Australian actor Jessica Falkholt will be laid to rest in Sydney, nearly two weeks after a funeral service was held for her parents and sister who were all tragically killed in a Boxing Day car crash.
The 29-year-old died on Wednesday, six days after her life support was turned off at St George Hospital.
The rising star had been clinging to life in a critical condition since December 26 when the car she was travelling in with her parents Lars and Vivian and sister Annabelle was involved in a collision with a four-wheel drive near Ulladulla.
The sisters were rescued before the car erupted in flames with the bodies of their parents inside. Annabelle, 21, died in hospital three days later.
Jessica's funeral will be held at St Mary's Catholic Church in Concord on Monday, the same church where hundreds of mourners gathered less than two weeks ago to farewell her parents and sister.
A Mass will be celebrated at 12pm, followed by a private family interment.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to Australian Cancer Research.
The actor, who found fame on the small screen as Hope Morrison on TV soap Home and Away, has been described as dearly loved and cherished in a funeral notice published by Fairfax Media.
"Jessica will be deeply missed by her uncle Paul Ponticello and his partner Felicia, his children Paul and Natalie, along with many close relatives and friends both in Australia and Sweden," the notice read.
In the notice, her family thanked the intensive care staff at St George Hospital.
Crew, cast and fans of Home and Away have remembered her as a great talent and a pleasure to work with.
"Such a beautiful and talented soul - taken so soon & so tragically. May you now rest in peace alongside Annabelle, Lars and Vivian. Sending my deepest sympathy to the extended Falkholt family & friends," Home and Away star James Stewart said on Twitter.
Nadine Terens, a make-up artist who worked with Jessica on the long-running Seven Network series, said she would always remember the actor fondly.
"Jess you have fought so bravely and ferociously yet now you are reunited with your family. Shine bright you gorgeous soul. Our friendship will never be forgotten," she wrote on Facebook.
