Father Stabbed During Terrifying Home Invasion In Sydney
A father has been stabbed during a terrifying home invasion in Sydney’s east over the weekend.
Byron Wood, 48, was attempting to protect his family when he suffered a 7cm deep stab wound that medics say could’ve killed him during the attack at his home in Pagewood just after 3am on Sunday.
Three suspects, believed to be aged between 16 and 17, jumped the fence of the house on Holloway Street and targeted two teenagers asleep in the homes converted garage.
Mr Wood was attacked with a knife as he ran in to try and protect his family. His 16-year-old son was also punched in the face during the attack.
The teenagers then ran through the house and escaped through the front door. Police sniffer dogs were unable to track the suspects and it’s believed that they separated after leaving the house. One of the boys was later caught on CCTV.
Mr Wood was rushed to hospital in a stable condition but paramedics said that he was very lucky.
“If the knife had gone in a slightly different angle or in a different position, by a matter of 5cm it could have been fatal,” said Insp Giles Buchanan from NSW Ambulance.
Investigations are underway but at this stage police believe that it may have been a targeted attack.
