Adelaide Baby Diagnosed With Meningococcal Disease
A 16-month-old baby has been struck down with a case of invasive meningococcal disease.
SA Health said the baby, who is from the metropolitan area, is in a critical condition in hospital. The baby was reportedly in contact with multiple people who have been identified and treated.
“Eight people have been directed to receive antibiotic chemoprophylaxis.” An SA Health statement advised.
It is the 21st case of invasive meningococcal disease just this year, compared to 27 at the same time last year.
