$15 Bottle Of Wine From ALDI Named One Of The Countrys Best
Aldi have done it again!
Their impressive collection of wines and spirits continue to pick up prestigious awards, this time around their Blackstone Paddock Limited Release chardonnay 2017 has just won in the Western Australia category at the Singapore Airlines Wine Show.
Selling for just $14.99, the Aldi alchol beat out the likes of Vasse Felix Heytesbury, which is $85 a bottle, as well as Flametree SRS Wallcliffe, Xanadu Stevens Road and Deep Woods Estate SV.
The show is the biggest for WA wines and had well over 800 entrants.
Chief judge Samantha Connew told the West Australian:
'The 2017 chardonnays were very strong and world class as always and with the cooler vintage showing through in tighter, more coiled wines, these will provide good drinking for some time to come,' she said.
'Another standout for me and the judging team was the exceptional 2018 rieslings with six gold medals being awarded out of a field of 44 wines. These wines show a breadth of different styles from classic linear purity to funkier, slightly worked wines.'
Meanwhile, Aldi's Buying Director for Wines and Sparkling, Jason Bowyer, has revealed this years drink for summer.
'Prosecco and Rose are all on trend at present, driven by consumers wanting refreshment and simplicity in their wine consumption,' Mr Bowyer told WHIMN.
'Like Prosecco and Rose, I believe that Riesling also deserves its moment - as it's appetising, racy and refreshing - a delicate nature just perfect for what consumers are chasing in white wine for the summer months.'
