Pregnant woman shot dead at wedding
A pregnant woman was shot dead after she refused to dance with a drunken stranger during a wedding in India.
Kulwinder Kaur, 25, who was three months pregnant at the time, died instantly after she was gunned down with a shotgun whilst performing onstage with her dance troupe at the wedding in Punjab, The Sun reports.
Four people have been arrested for the murder and remain in custody.
Among those arrested include Lucky Goyal, the leader of the Sikh political party Shiromani Akali Dal, and his friend Sanjay Goyal. The two others have not yet been named.
The young woman’s husband Rajinder Singh, claimed that a group of drunk men tried to dance with the girls on stage but stage management refused their request.
Singh claimed that they took their frustrations out by firing a gun at the women, with a bullet hitting his wife and killing her instantly.
Police Senior Superintendent Swapan Sharma said: "Both weapons found by officers belonged to Sanjay Goyal, but Lucky was holding the 0.32 bore revolver, as per the video clipping which we have seen.
"Lucky fired in the air while trying to go on stage. Sanjay Goyal was also near the stage holding his 0.12 gun. Both weapons have been recovered."
Thoughts go out to Kulwinder Kaur's husband Rajinder Singh and her family.
