Why Your Netflix Account Might Have Been Compromised
This Christmas you might not be alone as you sit back and unwind to Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Some Christmas grinch might be using your Netflix account to steam it after the site's Twitter account was hacked.
The Sun reported an internet security company managed to hack Netflix's official social media account earlier this week, leaving many to wonder how safe their account details are.
While none of Netflix’s systems were affected, The Sun reported people are actually paying for stolen Netflix logins in order to skip the monthly fee.
Numerous account log ins are being offered for sale in Dark Web marketplaces, but there are ways you can make sure you're protected.
First, to check if you're account has been compromised click on the drop-down menu next to your name at the top right-hand of the screen. Now you can see your viewing activity.
Alarm bells should be ringing if you see something you've never watched coming up. You can also check your 'see recent account access' which shows you the date, time and location and devices someone has been steaming from.
Then you can go back to your settings and get rid of the pesky intruders by clicking 'sign out of all devices.'
