Warning: If You See These Hooks In A Public Toilet, Leave
Hooks in bathrooms, they’re a safe and convenient way to keep our belongings off the floor in public places, but according to the police, one particular type of hook could be a cause for concern.
Police have issued a warning regarding a plastic hook that’s being converted into a spy camera and installed in public bathrooms.
The battery-operated hooks are being sold on eBay as discrete ‘nanny cams’ for less than $30 and are equipped with a hidden camera and memory card so they can be mounted anywhere.
These warnings have been issued after police in Florida found the cameras in three different women’s bathrooms across the state.
“Anyone who has a public restroom on their property needs to check them closely,” said Sheriff Ramsay.
“If you find anything suspicious you think might contain a hidden camera, don’t touch it. Call us right away and we will respond,” he said.
Private investigator, Carrie Kerskie told the NBC that the battery life for these hooks is two hours.
“Then, you just take it out, pop it in the computer and you have all your images"
There are concerns that copy-cat perverts may use the nanny cams in the same way in Australia.
