e Bad News For One Of Australia's Favourite Athlete Jenneke

She may be the internet's favourite athlete, but she certainly isn’t on the list of Athletics Australia.

Michelle Jenneke, who found fame four years ago with her pre-race warm-up dance has had her funding removed after failing to progress at the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Jenneke was the face of the games for Coca-Cola this year and was featured in a worldwide TV commercial and billboard in Rio de Janeiro during the games.

However, she failed to get past the heats of the women's 100m hurdles, recording a time that was half a second below her personal best.

Jenneke was openly criticised by Australian head coach Craig Hilliard who said the hurdler had arrived at a training camp out of shape and Athletics Australia couldn’t justify having someone who was ‘’half-baked’’.

Jenneke instantly hit back, saying she was injured but as a result of her performance, she has been left of the new National Athlete Support Structure list for funding for high-performance athletes.
