The Reason Why This Goat Is Wearing A Duck Costume

If you didn’t have a thing for goats, prepare for that to change…

Because once you meet Polly the goat, your heart will turn to mush and life will never be the same again!

You see, the sweet little goat has taken the internet by storm after photos of her dressed in multiple children’s costumes, first emerged.

While it may seem like a strange sight, when owner Leanne Lauricella explains the why… well it starts to make sense.

Part of the rescue group, Goats of Anarchy, in New Jersey, Polly came into Leanne’s care because of her special needs.

Blind and with neurological problems, the baby goat has eating issues and is severely underweight.

To top it all off, poor Polly also suffers from anxiety.

This is where the duck outfit comes into play.

According to Leanne, she thought it would make for a cute photo. However, the effect it had on Polly was incredible.

"There's something about that duck costume that calms her,” she told The Dodo.

“She goes into a little trance. She just closes her eyes and she's out."

Which is how Polly ended up being snapped snoozing away in her duck costume as she sat in a shopping trolley.

On Instagram, Leanne revealed that with Polly’s anxieties, she decided to take the goat with her to buy farm supplies.

“I bet every parent wishes their kids behaved this well in the store!” she joked.

While the duck costume may be Polly’s favourite, she also has some alternatives – including a pig, fox and unicorn.

Leanne has also discovered that popping one of her other rescue goats, Pocket, on Polly’s back can have the same effect.

She hopes one day Pocket will be able to take the place of the duck suit.

If only the superpowers of the duck worked for us all…
