The BEST Spots To Get Involved In The Mardi Gras Parade
We’ve been looking forward to it since the come down from New Years and it’s FINALLY here!
Sydney’s Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras will be lighting up the night TOMORROW and it’s all kicking off with the infamous Mardi Gras Parade on Oxford St.
If you’ve been part of the colourful Mardi Gras action before, you’ll know that the parade route is super busy (and brilliant!), but it can be hard to get a good spot to see the parade in all its glittery glory. Lucky for you, we’ve scouted the best spots.
Oxford Hotel, Oxford St (no shelter)
You can watch the parade coming right up Oxford St from here, plus there’s a dedicated drop-off and pick-up zone on Forbes St which is right near here.
Taylor Square (no shelter)
This is also close to the Forbes St pick-up zone and is located right in front of Coco Cubano (on the corner of Oxford and Flinders St). This will most likely be the most crowded viewing area as it provides a fab view of the parade coming up Oxford St and as it turns onto Flinders St. .
Corner of Short and Flinters St (limited shelter)
This spot will be less crowded than Taylor Square and you’ll still get to see the parade as it makes its way along Flinders St. This spot is nice and close to a dedicated parking zone on Short St (these spots will be limited!).
Corner of Flinders and South Dowling St (no shelter)
This spot is right near Drivers Triangle and you’ll get a great view of the parade as it dances along Flinders St.
Check out the map below to see exactly where each of these spots are:
Enjoy and remember to #kiisforequality in all your fabulous snaps of the night!
