Magpie Season Has Swooped In Early
A big welcome back to bicycle helmets with cable tie crowns, the Pies are back and in full force, apparently.
According to the Australian Bird Study Association (lmao sure sis), the magpies are back because IT'S HOT AND THEY WANT SOMETHING TO DO.
Just some fun facts about the pies- if you see one swooping, it's a male. They swoop during mating season (usually in Spring) due to a huge increase in testosterone. They're basically just protective dads and wanting to impress the lady maggies by pecking your eyes out.
Mating season can vary around the country but is generally is between late August to late October.
Because we're hitting 20 degrees almost every day now, the magpies think its Spring already so they're doing their thing.
