K-Mart Becomes One Of The First To Feature THIS In Their Ads
It is set to become one of the most groundbreaking adverts ever seen on Australian TV.
And if you blink, you will miss it.
In the latest advert for Kmart, the discount retailer is using different kinds of children to sell its products and it starts as it normally would, with cutesy kids jumping around.
However, in a move that will set some competitors into a frenzy, they have let boys play with what are supposed to be girls toys and vice versa.
But look closer.
A young model with Down syndrome also appears in the advert.
The young model happily gallops across the screen in a pink swan costume.
Speaking to news.com.au, her mother, Jolie Kelly says Josee won the people’s choice award in the n the 2015 Bonds’ Baby Search modelling competition.
“Josee loves the (Kmart) advert,” she tells news.com.au.
“She’s nearly four and if she sees a little girl in an advert with Down syndrome she will point and say to us ‘Josee!’”.
People with Down syndrome have 37 chromosomes in their cells instead of 46. This tiny change leads to some level of intellectual impairment and characteristic facial features among other traits.
Currently, more than 13,000 Australians live with Down syndrome, with around 300 babies being born a year with the condition.
