Why Katie Holmes And Jamie Foxx Had To Hide Their Romance

It’s been years since Katie Holmes split with Tom Cruise, and rumours of a romance with Jamie Foxx have been circulating for almost as long.

So, the question remained, is their relationship a total beat-up - or were they just very good at withholding the proof we all sought after?

Now, photos of the two strolling along the beach holding hands have surfaced, showing the pair looking completely at ease and loved up.

They paced along Malibu beach together on Monday, obviously content with the fact that the news could be revealed.

The reason for the sudden laid-back approach to the news getting out could be attributed to the terms of Katie’s divorce to Tom Cruise.

The pair were granted a ‘quickie’ divorce in 2012 that prevented Katie ‘from embarrassing Tom in various ways.’

A source told Radar Online: ‘Katie signed a clause in her quickie divorce settlement that prevents her from embarrassing Tom in various ways, like talking about him or Scientology, or publicly dating another man for five years after the divorce.

"She’s allowed to date, but she cannot do so in a public fashion, and she’s not supposed to let any boyfriend near their daughter, Suri."

Guess what? Five years is UP.

Katie allegedly agreed to the strict terms, to help speed proceedings along.

"Katie wanted out of the marriage so badly, she agreed to the terms – and got $4.8 million in child support, plus another $5 million for herself," added the insider.

Under the deal, Suri Cruise was to live in New York with her mother – and any contact with her dad was to be supervised to ensure she is not “indoctrinated” by his Scientology beliefs.

Bizarrely, legal papers written by Cruise showed that he did not refer to the former Dawson's Creek actress Katie by her name, only 'Suri's mother' or 'my ex wife.'

While Jamie had previously denied he was dating Katie over the past year, claiming the constant rumours were causing his REAL relationship problems.

“I’m not the person who wants to be defined by anybody I date. Even if I was dating someone, no one would know anyway," he told Dish Nation.

“But it affects my situation because I got a girl, who’s like ‘yo, who’s this b****?’.”
