The HUGE Change To The Next Season Of The Bachelorette
We may only be two seasons of The Bachelorette down here in Australia, but America has just announced that their thirteenth - THIRTEENTH! - season will have one, huge difference.
TV bosses have confirmed their new lady-looking-for-love to be Rachel Lindsay, a 31-year-old lawyer and the first ever black Bachelorette.
"I'm so happy that she's the Bachelorette," one former contestant told PEOPLE. "Not only is it something she's ready for, she's someone we all can aspire to look up to.
"And let's be real, we haven't had someone who is diverse so this is a great representation of where we are going. It means a lot to a lot of people."
Rachel, who is still a contestant on the current series of The Bachelor (we're gonna go ahead and assume she doesn't get the final rose, then) also told the magazine that she was looking forward to the challenge.
"I'm happy to represent myself as a black woman in front of America and I'm happy for America to rally behind me and see what it's like for me to be on this journey to find love," she said.
Hopefully it doesn't take another 10 seasons for us to see a bit of diversity in Australian reality TV!
