There’s A New ‘Purge’ Movie Coming And I’m Already Scared
If you’ve ever watched any of the ‘Purge’ movies before, you’ll know that they’re a certain brand of ‘messed up’ that you may not have been familiar with before.
The flicks are based off our worst fears as humans, that the government and emergency services will stop protecting us, allowing all of the ugliness currently forced to hide in the darkness, to come out into the light.
That’s the gist of the movies.
To keep crime rates at an unbelievable low throughout the year, there is one night of ‘the purge’ once a year, where every crime - including murder - is legal.
Emergency services also cease to respond to calls for help, so you literally have to #survivethenight.
It’s as creepy as you think, and after the third movie, aptly titled ‘Election Year’ was released, we’re now told a fourth is in the works.
No word yet on what theme the movie will focus on, but, it wouldn’t be a shock if it focused on a post-Trump America, would it?
The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Universal and Purge producers Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes are working on a follow-up to Election Year.
July 4, 2018 is set for the release date. Stay tuuuuuuned.
