Sarah Hyland Opens Up About Her Abusive Ex
Sarah Hyland has opened up for the first time about her abusive relationship with ex-boyfriend Matt Prokop.
The Modern Family star took out a restraining order against the actor last month, revealing he terrorised her over the course of their four year relationship.
Joining talk show host Meredith Vieira [watch above], the 23 year old, shared her philosophical outlook.
"There are two quotes that I want to say. One is Dylan Thomas' poem: 'Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light' - which is one of my favourite poems. It just strikes a chord with me," she said.
"And then also Robert Frost's 'The only way out, is through' - people have to go through things in order to become the person they are today, and that's that."
In AVO documents reportedly supplied to the court, Hyland recounted how in May this year she was thrown against a car, called horrible names, and choked until she could not breathe.
When she tried to distance herself from Prokop, he sent her "vile, threatening and emotionally disturbing texts and voice mails including his own suicide threats."
