One Of Your FAVOURITE 90s Movies Is Becoming A Musical

Guys, THE romantic comedy of the 90s, Pretty Woman, is officially heading to Broadway.

Yup, the iconic rom-com, which starred Julia Roberts and silver fox Richard Gere is being made into a musical and this is the best news ever.

The character of Vivian will be played by Les Miserable actress Samantha Barks, and Edward will be played by a Tony award-winning actor Steve Kazee – while not necessarily the biggest stars in the world, their singing and acting chops are out of control amazing.

The original film’s director, the legendary Garry Marshall - who passed away last year - envisioned the project before his death.

"It's a year away but Disney's behind it," he told Deadline in a 2014 interview. "After 24 years! In the old days nobody figured that a movie could become a play, so in the '80s they gave writers theatrical rights, a piece, you can't get near that. J.F. Lawton owns half and Disney owns half. He wanted to write an opera where everybody dies and Disney wanted to make the Julia Roberts a model…Not a lady of the night. These Disney people said to me, 'We cannot put our label on a show about a prostitute. But you can, so your name will be on as one of the producers. We would like to make the money.' We have a good relationship. [Disney Theatrical Group chief] Tom Schumacher has been very, very supportive and helpful. We've had a couple of little readings of it with temporary music, and it's not bad. It's still a darn good story."

Let’s hope it makes its way down under because in the words of Vivian… “WOOH! WOOH! WOOH!”
