'When I was growing up as a trans young person I did not see anyone out there who I could relate to,' Georgie said, about the opportunity to introduce a Transgender character to the show.

'Yes, it is breaking new ground, it is a great story, and people will really like it, but I really hope that there will be some trans young people out there who have felt isolated before and then see this character and feel that they are not alone, or that they feel OK to be who they are, and that this story can teach other people how to treat trans young people.'

Georgie landed the role after pitching the character idea to executive producer Jason Herbison, who apparently responded within just two hours. Your first chance to see Georgie on the streets of Erinsborough will be towards the end of this year.

Georgie has already made waves for the Transgender community, after becoming the youngest person to receive hormone blockers in Australia, at the age of 10. At 15 she began hormone replacement therapy, and has been outspoken in raising awareness over the years since.
