Hoping For A Back To The Future Remake?... Don't Hold Your Breath

Back To The Future director Robert Zemeckis is convinced a remake of the classic trilogy will not happen as long as he is alive.

The moviemaker helmed all three of the time-travelling adventure films and he signed a contract, alongside co-writer Bob Gale, in 1984 preventing studios Universal and Amblin Entertainment from making any projects related to the trilogy without their permission.

Zemeckis and Gale still own the rights to the original 1985 film, starring Michael J Fox, and the director is determined to stop it being remade for as long as he lives.

He's told Telegraph.co.uk a reboot can't happen until both "Bob and I are dead".

"And then I'm sure they'll do it, unless there's a way our estates can stop it.

"I mean, to me, that's outrageous. Especially since it's a good movie. It's like saying 'Let's remake Citizen Kane. Who are we going to get to play Kane?' What folly, what insanity is that? Why would anyone do that?" Zemeckis said.
