Channel Nine Has Bought ANOTHER Property For The Block
Channel Nine has purchased Melbourne’s notorious Gatwick Hotel, following months of rumours that the St Kilda Rooming house would the next project for The Block.
Land title documents have shown that the property at 43 Fitzroy Street was purchased by ‘Micjoy Pty Ltd,’ which is owned by Network Nine.
It means that Nine can now prevent other properties from registering interest in the property ahead of theirs.
Channel Nine have not commented on the purchase.
Last year, rumours began to emerge that The Block was eyeing up the rooming house to renovate on its next season.
However, it is unlikely the new purchase will be used in the next season, with a land in Elsternwick already being snapped up for $9.6 million in December.
Filming on the new season is due to start in late April, which means the Gatwick sale will not be ready to shoot in time.
The 40 residents who currently live at The Gatwick will be given alternative accommodation by the government.
